Philip Margo of the Tokens passed away June 25th, 2018. Mr. Margo was born December 12, 1937 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and was the son of Owen and Sophia Margo.

Mr. Margo and the Tokens were best known for the classic hit song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, which received radio airplay in over 75 countries.

He continued in music for many years.

Philip has numerous other notable credits.

He recorded several songs in his lifetime including “Tobacco Road” and “Crazy In Love” which were featured in the musical Funny Girl.

He is survived by his brothers, Chris and Don, sons, Jim and Tony, and many other loved ones.

His induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and his stars in the Hollywood Walk of Fame are legendary.
