Kristen Stewart play’s Diana of Wales in a sexy and bawdy new animated short film about the married Princess of Wales that explores the power of fantasy in Hollywood, and the lasting impact it has had on Diana’s siblings, like Prince William and Princess Diana’s younger sister, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones.
In the “I Want It to Be Summer” short film, directed by YouTube star Matthew Holness, Kristen plays Princess Diana with the wiles of a star, and she casts the befuddled Countess of Wessex, who looks like a Gwyneth Paltrow character come to life, in a parlor game that includes an aging “weird, soon-to-be married-to-me Prince of Wales.” Their encounter — in a business-suited, slightly mopey Countess’s chamber — eventually gets so steamy that the Countess, who at first seems embarrassed to have been placed on Diana’s fantasy list, emerges in her birthday suit. It’s before the lovely Countess (portrayed by Sasha Botet, Diana’s younger sister) begins chatting with the star and bemoaning the end of her family.
The first film in a series Holness is calling “sparks from the imagination,” the plot is reminiscent of Lindsay Lohan’s “Mean Girls” spin-off series, “Lindsay Lohan’s Just a Girl.” The animated short film, which first appeared on Holness’s YouTube channel, gets more erotic than the innocuous “Mean Girls,” which previously starred Lohan, providing an alternate take on life in the world of Harry Potter and the Weasley family.
A second animated film, “Princess of the Eiffel Tower,” will be available on March 15.
